This is on our short list! To be honest we haven't done many editor features lately as we are building some big new things. But we'll get back to this soon - don't give up on us!
We are honestly really sorry to lose you over this! It's actually quite high on our list of priorities but we are so busy with new features that we just haven't gotten there yet. Please check back soon!
I'm sorry it's taking so long - we are super busy with a big new project so some of our important editor projects are taking longer than usual. Don't give up on us!
Yes it will! It is actually on our "short list" but we are building some other big stuff, beyond the editor, that is slowing us down on editor stuff. But don't despair, this will be ready before long!
We are sorry not to have provided a fuller reply! We marked this "Under review" which was our way of saying that we are discussing it - and indeed we have been actively discussing it in the last few months, because we know how important it is to our users like you. The decision-making process for new features is very tricky and involves balancing a lot of factors. Sometimes a very needed and desirable feature like this is very complicated for our software developers to build, or involves redesigning or altering other features that many users already depend on. So, that's a long way of saying that although we probably won't have this feature ready within the next few months, we have not forgotten about it! We sincerely hope you'll stick with us, and we truly value your feedback.
Are you finding that our editor is working better for you? What are some pain points that are still happening for you? We know that with very large scores, editing can still be slow.
Thanks for your thoughts! We do that deliberately, in case you want to leave it open to grab tools easily. But I see the downside for sure too. If you reduce the zoom a bit, it won't overlap your score.
Albert, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org with the specific browser and operating system, and a link to a typical score where this is happening, so we can test it for you. With extremely large scores it can be a little slower, but should be working for you!
We have continued to make improvements in the design and performance our HTML5 editor. Always make sure you are using the most recent version of your browser, and keep us posted if you continue to see problems!
Hey everyone! Our work on improving the new editor continues. Please take a look at this list of recent updates. This process is not over by any means - we are still working on things and will continue to do so. This is just the latest progress. https://notes.noteflight.com/noteflight-score-editor-improves/
Thanks for the comments! Keep 'em coming. We are working on this every day.
Those of you who said the background was too bright - are you enjoying the new darker look?
Thanks for all the great comments so far! A quick reply for now, to "The Famous": we do have the octave-down treble clef with the "8" which is standard for tenor voices. But we don't offer the others because they are not standard notation. They are useful in some cases, but most players are not used to seeing them and may miss them. That doesn't mean we shouldn't offer them in the long run, because they are used sometimes and we want our users to have lots of options. But it means this isn't a high-priority item.
You can use 8va/8vb lines in the meantime - or for certain instruments the transposition is just understood - for example piccolo, double bass, glockenspiel, etc.
We know it has been a while. We're working on a larger review of our playback sounds and hope to include this. Stay tuned for that and other big things on the way!
Hi Brian, thank you for your note. I want to be sure I understand your specific need here: if you are writing for a live performance, Noteflight will work just fine: you can certainly write a decrescendo or crescendo and the performers will have the correct notation for the effect you need.
The only limitation here is in Noteflight's MIDI playback sounds. If you are opening Noteflight and pressing play during the showcase, that is when you would have the problem with this feature.
Have I understood correctly? Please let us know! Thank you.
stay, uh... tuned! we are working on this
Thanks! We will take a look at this as part of the guitar frames.
Hi Anna, this seems to be working ok when I test it! I replied on our support channel - please let me know if you don't find the solution soon.
The first part of this is complete! See https://www.noteflight.com/guide#tuplets
For something like 15, it’s easier to use three quintuplets. That said, something like 11-tuplet is still not possible.
It sounds like you are also interested in this idea: http://feedback.noteflight.com/forums/4962-tell-us-your-thoughts/suggestions/4472688-allow-cross-staff-beaming-arpeggios-slurs
I'm sorry for the confusion! I hate to ask, but if you don't mind it would be great if you could re-post your idea. I think it's a valuable idea and would love to have it "on the books" again now that I understand it better.
And/or, there is another related idea here - does this come close?
Update: we may be able to do this soon with the new iOS. Stay tuned!
Fredrik thank you for your comment! As I understand it, because we are not an iOS app, but rather a website on the mobile browser, things work differently than for a "real" app. Until recently, the OS would not allow us to export files. However I have heard recently that the new iOS may allow this, and we are looking into it. We agree - it is a serious limitation!
This is on our list!
We have it! It's in the drum sets - see this list of all our Percussion sounds: https://notes.noteflight.com/playing-techniques-part-2-percussion/
We don't have any news on this at the moment. We have not forgotten it - we are just busy building some big new features and our focus is there for the moment.
We would love to implement better ways for users to communicate! Does the following idea sound similar to what you’re suggesting? http://feedback.noteflight.com/forums/4962-tell-us-your-thoughts/suggestions/2155805-sending-messages
Thank you. We have redesigned our Profile page - it doesn't do this exactly yet, but let us know what you think!
Likewise – we appreciate this idea and will consider it. Thanks.
For now you will need to rely on selecting and de-selecting the measures you need, or may need. To de-select, just click into white space. Hope that helps for now!
Update: you can now indent the first system. The option is under Score > Settings. See: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#documentLayoutSize
You also need indentation for any other system, correct?
Update: we already allow users to follow each other. That is not exactly a "Friend" system like Facebook but it's similar.
So, we think the main aspect of this feature is the inbox and messaging - that is something we don't have.
Therefore, I am going to merge this with this idea: http://feedback.noteflight.com/forums/4962-tell-us-your-thoughts/suggestions/2155805-sending-messages
Oh I see... but that is not standard - normally punctuation comes before the extender line. Could you share examples where that's not the case?
What do you mean about adding punctuation at the end of a line?
Currently this is not possible but it is something we hope to add in the future!
Dylan (and everyone) we are looking at this actively! We know how important this is to our users, and on one level it might be simple to implement, but it connects to a number of more complicated factors and managing all those various decisions is quite tricky. So with our other priorities it is taking us some time. Don't give up on us! Solutions are on their way! :-)
