You’re right that it’s technically easy to port the application; in fact, we routinely run Noteflight “in the shop” as an Adobe AIR application for testing purposes. But… there remain many tricky questions surrounding exactly how Noteflight would function as a desktop application, how it would be packaged, how it would be maintained and upgraded, what its file format would be, and on how it would relate to our online environment. So we’re continuing to ponder for now (and we’re not ignoring the idea)!

Seriously, this is what bothered me the most on Finale NotePad before they updated it. I would love to see this happen.

Please. I just realized that Finale Notepad (my secondary to Noteflight) can import and export MusicXML. It would be rather nice.

MIDI can be translated into a score. I import MIDI's into Finale Notepad all the time. I can be a little choppy, but it is universal.

MIDI import would be a great feature.

I love the WAV export. I can convert it to mp3 myself using Audacity, now. Thanks.

Oh, wait. I forgot that I posted this topic and I just agreed to it. Whoops...

I agree. An export audio feature would be nice. I like the Hamienet converter, but I just want to cut out the middle man and export it directly. Is it too much to ask?

As part of our premium subscription service Noteflight Crescendo, we’re including over 50 professionally sampled orchestral and rock sounds from SONiVOX. We will be continuing to include more and more sounds — we’re not done yet!

Agreed. I would love the sound of a real ensemble of instruments. I am a vibraphone player for my school's band (Chino High) and would love the sounds of a good vibraphone in this program.

Maybe even go as far as an option to play only selected instruments in a score.

Yeah. That way you can write notes such as: Allegro, Tempos, Moderately, or any other notes you find on a real score.

Very true. Without dynamics, what is music, really?

We’re working on MusicXML import right now. Finale can export this format directly, and Sibelius allows MusicXML via Recordare’s Dolet plugin.

Great. Now how about MIDI support. (importing as well as exporting)

Yes. It would be difficult to do, but it would really set NoteFlight away from Finale NotePad. I look forward to this idea someday becoming true.

I think that is a WONDERFUL idea. I was just about to suggest it, until I saw this. You should seriously do it.
