Instruments may take time to load for people with lesser connections. Enable users to download sets of "GM" voices and allocate local instrument folder in the GUI. Provide two sets: Common Instruments and All Instruments.97 votes
We can’t do this in the browser due to security restrictions, but most browsers will do a good job of caching frequently accessed files.
What about putting a musical theme for noteflight to greet our members a new arrivals?
And also have a little box to check for optional hearing or not the theme.
Here is the theme i suggest: http://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/3eb424c2a861513c5a0b1f93750f2ccfed185f2375 votes
Barly any people can buy crescendo because its 50 stinkin dollars a year!! please make it free...74 votes
at first it was 100 now you lowered it to 25 really. I thought you said you would never downgrade the free version.60 votes
We do not downgrade the account for any user. We did however have to limit the score number for free users. We are always open to suggestions about this so please feel free to write more in detail about what you would like to see, and why, to email@example.com. Thanks!
Noteflight users submitted ideas so that they could use the ideas for free. Now, Cresendo has basically "taken away" the ideas and used them for Noteflight's profit. I like the idea of new instruments, etc., but only if they were for free. I thought Noteflight's purpose was to help everyone receive free music composing online software. I am very disappointed. Please review your decision. I really don't want to have to pay for such a great program like Noteflight42 votes
I want to be very clear that no one will have to pay for Noteflight. We are not taking away the free version, and we will be continuing to add functionality to both the free and paid version.
Unfortunately we do need to make a profit in order for a free version to exist at all. Noteflight costs money to operate and to keep improving, and we can’t do it alone!
I would just like a drumset crash cymbal, it's the only essential piece of the drumset missing from the free user version of noteflight and if I had the money, I'd buy crescendo. It doesn't even have to be the crash from crescendo, I don't think it would be that hard to get a crash sample from somewhere.42 votes
Incorporate IP bans on the forums (or just in general)
That way those who have been banned can't return by merely creating an alternate account. It has caused a lot of disturbances on the forums.37 votes
We are continuing to look for other ways to combat spam. It is already much reduced!
[old comment from Joe Berkovitz:] This isn’t nearly as useful as you would think since smartphones have variable IPs and much of the abuse has occurred from smartphones.
Please feel free write to me (Joe) directly if you would like to discuss this further.
can you please add these instruments by the end of this week.
Alto flute, Eb clarinet, A clarinet, Basset horn (clarinet in F), bass oboe, heckelphone, oboe d'amore, viola da gamba, viols, bass viol, tenor viol, alto viol, treble viol, viola d'amore, flauto a bec, bass flute, D clarinet, Contrabassoon, celesta, harpsichord, clavichord, recorder, flute d'amore. thank you.33 votes
Hi, as you can imagine it is much more than several days work to add so many instruments to Noteflight. What would work for you instead is to use existing instruments, but change the clefs, the part names and the transposition keys as needed. All of these are customizable in Noteflight.
non crescendo users should be able to have typical orchestral instruments, and at least one type of guitar tab28 votes
I created a triplet in a score, and could not figure out how to remove the triplet after realizing I had made a mistake. I was forced to use undo, and when I discovered that the undo history did not go back far enough, I had to exit the score and go to the last save which, thankfully did not include the dreaded triplet. Maybe a "Remove Tuplet" button in the Score pannel?28 votes
To do this, just delete the notes in the triplet to remove it, then re-enter the non-triplet values.
I would like to write polirhythms for example the right hand 3/4 and the left hand 2/4. At the moment it is not possible.28 votes
Let tuplets have any crazy ratio I feel like using in my compositions - why can't I use that 13:5 tuplet that just makes me want to get down on the dance floor and shake it?25 votes
I would like to make a piece with a mixed time signature, but I have to physically change it for every bar. Noteflight should be able to support mixed time signatures and it should be available in the next update.22 votes
Could you please write to support to describe exactly what you need? Do you need one that looks like
Currently, as a workaround you can create a bar of 7/8, then of 6/8, then select both by clicking the grey bar above, and use the R key to repeat that pattern many times instantly so you don’t have to create each time sig individually.
I understand that noteflight needs to make a profit, but it would be better to do so in a way that does not conflict with creativity. After filling up the 10 scores, i am discouraged from using noteflight. A better strategy would be to allow me to explore the capacities of the website and convince me to purchase crescendo based on other features.22 votes
I have just created a new account and they only let me use 10 scores. it should be at least 15 like all the other old people (whose score limit is around the 30-ish).If you are looking for ways to make money, i suggest advertising instead making people pay 50$/yr.22 votes
Recently I wrote a little bass solo with slap in it, but it sounds kinda dull without the actual slap sounds. What I suggest is adding "Slap Bass" as a new instrument.21 votes
This is a good idea, but we need to review it as part of a larger question of adding a new instrument library. So “declined” for now but we are not ignoring you!
I suggest you make it possible to scan note sheets from .pdf or any other format into Noteflight20 votes
Possible via “OCR” programs to XML then import to NF.
Usually people are going to want to see the first post first. It's really annoying having scroll down to the bottom of the page with each new thread.
It also helps the thread retain it's shape. If you want to go back to a certain post you know vaguely where the post is on the page.
The way it is now, every time there's a new post the page get's rearranged.
I think it just makes the op more central to the thread.20 votes
Under "Edit" include an "Insert new line" feature or "Insert 'X' # of bars" feature.19 votes
You can insert a bar at any point in the score: click the + symbol that appears above the bar line if you tap the bar.
Ability to separate parts for non-Crescendo users.16 votes
