Just notated a piece at 60bmp, and the grace notes i have added (love grace notes feature by the way !) are too slow, almost like 32nd notes and note 'grace' note enough for the piece!
Is this a bug or intentional?
If intentional it would be great to either have the option to unlink this feature and always have the grace notes very fast - or have some kind of 0-100% slider for grace note to tempo relationship perhaps?
There is a new menu in the HTML5 editor called Playback Options which lets you choose the grace notes length and if you want it linked to the tempo or not.
We hope you like it!
We all know of the thing that floats around when you edit the sheet music. It's the thing that has the quarter notes, the eight notes and of course dynamics and the tablature and everything else. I can't stand the fact that it moves around. It gets in my way when I'm trying to edit the sheet music. Wouldn't it be great if it stays like on the side of the editor? Like, maybe in the upper right hand corner or upper left hand corner? Just so it stays out of our way. Won't it be much easier?1,366 votes
This feature has been added!
To change modes of palette positioning in the Flash editor, go to the ‘View’ Menu and toggle the ‘Position Edit Palette Automatically’ option. When this option is checked, the palette will behave as it has before (following the user’s clicks). However, the unchecked version will keep the palette stationary and also makes it scroll with the page.
Also, the newer HTML5 Noteflight editor (which you can access from the View menu in the Flash version) has a fixed object palette that doesn’t move around.
Enjoy this new feature!
Noteflight has now a metronome! You’ll find it in the HTML5 editor under the mixer panel.
Go there and turn it on!
We hope you like it!
Near the end of the piece I like to add ritards. It brings a feeling of resolution that cannot be replaced. In the middle sometimes pieces sound better just a little faster.1,319 votes
This feature was released this week!
I arrange for the organ. I need to be able to create a grand staff with the bass clef for pedal below. I accidentally did it once and now can't figure out how I did it! It needs to be easier.1,310 votes
We are happy to announce that the three-staff Organ layout is now available! It is available as a Template for new scores (Premium accounts) and as an instrument. Enjoy!
Youtube and mygamebuilder has a views/plays count on the project. It would be great to have that same feature on this site.1,215 votes
We have released this feature today!
Noteflight has a special function for ties into a repeating section or coda. (I've had some difficulty getting it to work, but it is there.) What I really need is to be able to tie a note OUT of a repeat bar and BACK to the beginning. I'm able to notate it with the standard tie symbol, but playback ignores this--creating a glitch instead of a syncopation.1,210 votes
This is now fixed. Thanks for your patience!
Currently, you are only able to use the palm mute feature on the clean, distortion, and overdriven guitar. In reality, you can palm mute any guitar and specifically the acoustic, classical, lead, and steel string guitar.1,151 votes
We believe palm mute is now functioning the same on all guitars. If you notice specific guitars where it is not working, please let us know, including links to scores with specific measure numbers.
I think it would be nice to add friends so you can send them private messages and have subscriptions so people can be alerted of your new scores every time they log in. also ratings from one star to five stars. it wuold also be nice to let only your friends help you make a score because if you click let otheer useres change this score then anyone can change it.1,149 votes
We’ve just rolled out a very comprehensive feature for following friends and being able to see people’s public activity on Noteflight. We realize that there are many more things that could be done including private messages and notification emails. We’ll add separate ideas to capture those features.
It would be great to get the Harpsichord added to the in program, anyways, keep up the good work guys!1,020 votes
A Harpsichord instrument was made available for Crescendo users as of Feb. 21, 2014. This instrument’s sounds are commercially licensed and thus are not available to free users of Noteflight.
Hey Noteflight Team, I love the software and everything! What I am REALLY hoping for is some more percussion sounds/notes. If there could be a crash or splash for the drumest? or if there could be some latin style percussive sounds- such as cowbell, maracas, guero? Finally i would love it if there could be quad toms, marching snare/bass. Thankyou882 votes
You asked, and we listened. We’ve released a collection of new instruments, including marching percussion and specialty latin instruments.
To celebrate the release of our new instruments we’re running a Latin Composition Contest http://notes.noteflight.com/latin-composition-contest-sponsored-by-tycoon/

It's kind of lame to just give me a list of My Scores that gets longer and longer. I want tags, folders, or something that lets me organize my music!800 votes
We’ve just released our long-awaited score folder organizer, available for all premium/Crescendo users.
The fermata does not seem to affect the playback at all. It would be great if a value could be assigned to the fermata for each score (or even each instance) to facilitate playback lengthening of the note up to 2 times the written length.709 votes
This has been released!
Ctrl+S, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V, Ctrl+X, Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Y don't work, at least on my Vista IE7 running Flash Player 10. I used those shortcuts eight times for this post alone, it is such a pain to "Edit/Paste" everything...674 votes
These should now be working for you in our new HTML5 editor. If you encounter problems using these shortcuts, please write to email@example.com.
The dynamics markings (p,pp, mf, ff etc.) are great, but are ignored if they occur before the playback point. Please fix this, it make things really difficult.575 votes
This problem has been fixed, and moreover Noteflight now performs crescendo and diminuendo line and wedge notations.
This symbol is extensively used in studio charts, esp handy for drummers who must repeat the same beat for several measures. This would reduce the chart size to a convenient 1 or 2 pages526 votes
We have released the Repeat Measure symbol! Read about it here: https://notes.noteflight.com/noteflight-new-features-february-2017/
SATB as well as a singular voice part would be ideal.519 votes
We have posted the first 2 of our 6 new vocal samples today: Male and Female choirs on the syllable “aah”! The other 4 (M/F “ooh”/“oh”) should be available next week…
Make it possible to have a multi-measure rest, e.g.
|- 4 -| is a four measure rest. When producing scores with long segments of resting having one blank measure after other wastes space and is difficult to follow.474 votes
Update: there is now a setting to create multi-measure rests automatically. See: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#documentLayoutFormatting
come on, these are like the iceing on the cake, just one or two will add a lot to a peace457 votes
Grace note support has been released in Noteflight 2.3.
How about more unpitched percussion, mallets, brass, and some strings?430 votes
As part of our premium subscription service Noteflight Crescendo, we’re including over 50 professionally sampled orchestral and rock sounds from SONiVOX. We will be continuing to include more and more sounds — we’re not done yet!
