Jazz Font looks fine in browser, but when I render the score for printing the text and chord symbols are in front of the staff creating small gaps underneath the chord symbol. Standard font works fine, but looks fugly for lead sheets.1 vote
This issue should now be fixed. If you continue to encounter problems, please email us at email@example.com with details and examples. Thank you!
For a song with more than one voice part or instrument, if I want to add another part/instrument it adds to to the whole piece. or if I want to remove it from part of the piece it removes it from all of it. If a part is not being used, it just takes up space. This is a real problem for me.4 votes
I love being able to input notes through my midi keyboard. However, it is also nice to test an idea out on the keyboard before I input it into noteflight. It would be great if there were a keyboard shortcut to toggle on and off keyboard input so that way when I test an idea on my keyboard, noteflight won't try to input it into the score and mess up my work, forcing me to hit the undo button many times.2 votes
Totally great idea! But… if I understand right, we already have it! Just hit Esc so nothing is selected, and you can play the keyboard without entering any notes.
Let me know if I didn’t understand right!
add a tempo so I could write a ritard and then put "a tempo" at the top of the score to return to the original tempo. Now it stays at the slow, post-ritard tempo which is obviously not what I'm going for in my piece.1 vote
This should be working! use a “Performance text” item at the point you want the tempo to return to full speed, and type the letters:
If it’s not working, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can use the Closed and Open options in the Articulations palette: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#noteArticulations
So, when I have notes in a measure, but then I decide I want to delete the notes in the measure, instead of the whole rest returning to its original place in the center of the measure, goes to the front of the measure, and looks very weird. Help? Thanks.3 votes
If you click inside the five lines, but not on any note or rest, it selects the whole bar. Then hit Delete. That will have the effect you want.
When I write percussion, I use the lyrics as a method to notate sticking. On marching tenors, some music requires a crossover, which I notate using a parenthesis note head, as well as a parenthesis around the sticking lyric, like this : (R). However, when I export to a PDF file, the parenthesis all have back slashes around them, like this : \(R\). I would appreciate fixing this, as it looks like I just didn't pay attention to my work, and doesn't look professional.1 vote

I created a chord with an arpeggio on it but after I decided to change the chord, I wanted to get rid of the arpeggio and I can't seem to find a way to without deleting the measure.1 vote
Click the arpeggio, then click the arpeggio button again a few times until it disappears. (also gives up/down options)
This symbol is extensively used in studio charts, esp handy for drummers who must repeat the same beat for several measures. This would reduce the chart size to a convenient 1 or 2 pages526 votes
We have released the Repeat Measure symbol! Read about it here: https://notes.noteflight.com/noteflight-new-features-february-2017/
Allow me to type lyrics in the top voice of the piano set-up that stay inside the staff, not above it.1 vote
Hello, to make sure we understand: you want the lyrics to appear inside the five lines of the staff? For that, we would recommend using Performance text – select a note and type “T” then the text you need.
In 3/4, I figured out how to add a pick up measure with beat 3, but I still have a 3rd beat of rest in the final measure. How do I remove that extra beat?1 vote
In the final measure, make it 2/4 time and us the “hidden” option for the time signature.
I would like to write a baroque basson continuo for a score. Is it possible to use special lirics (like petrucci) with premium? I need write sharps, flats, etc. Is it possible with premium to create drawings and put it like text?
Hello, You can notate all standard Baroque-style music. Could you please send an image file or PDF that shows what you need, to email@example.com, so we can make sure we understand fully what you’re looking for? Thanks!
I've been trying to make music but every time I try to add something to any measure the screen goes to the bottom of the page or the start of my music if in the strip mode. It's getting really annoying having to scroll back up to the top of the page add one note or change one thing before I have to scroll back up.
another thing that would be useful would be a way to silence one instrument while your working on another one.1 vote
Hello, could you please write to firstname.lastname@example.org with the link to your score, and the browser you’re using? Then we will investigate. Thanks!
I see trill, mordents, and turns available. I'm not sure why appoggiaturas and acciaccaturas weren't part of the new interface.1 vote
Make the slurs actually slur the notes. Whenever I indicate a slur, it doesn't slur the notes, it always plays it as if there isn't even one

This behavior may vary depending on what instrument/sound you’re using. Could you please send the score URL/link you are working with to email@example.com? Thank you!
I usually make RPG battle themes, and unfortunately they only really play twice when I put the repeats. So for those who make battle themes or want to loop a song, could you guys maybe add a loop function for a piece? (Loop start & Loop End, similar to the Repeat signs)33 votes
We now have this! Next to the small “Play” button above each bar line, you’ll see the loop button. Pressing it loops whichever measures you currently have selected.
I want to remove the tempo marking above the first time sign. There is no easy way to do that, that I can find.1 vote
You can do this! Just click on it and hit delete. To get it back, change the numerical value in the tempo palette and it will reappear.
Noteflight has now a metronome! You’ll find it in the HTML5 editor under the mixer panel.
Go there and turn it on!
We hope you like it!
For instance, if you are writing a part for flute, and clarinet and trumpet has the same part, it would be much less time consuming to be able to duplicate this part for another instrument, rather than rewriting this part for another instrument. More efficient in my opinion.1 vote
Does our current copy-paste option suffice for what you need? You can create the new parts, then double-click the original staff to select the whole thing, then copy-paste that music into the additional parts, then adjust as needed using the command-up/down arrows to move by octave, and change the clefs in the measures toolbar (or Staff menu). If you are looking for a more specific functionality such as a “duplicate this part” button, we would like to know more about what you have in mind. Please write to firstname.lastname@example.org with a detailed description of how you would imagine this working. Thank you.
I absolutely require some way (however inconvenient) to cut and paste and copy between scores(documents).1 vote
This is implemented. Please contact support with details of your problem so we can help you.
