  1. Offline downloadable version

I wish there was a version which was totally offline, which is downloaded and we can launch it by double-clicking it. Whis would allow users to compose while offline and save their scores to their hard drive. When they connect to the internet, their scores would automatically be updated.

In this way users could even carry Noteflight-Offline on their USB sticks! Oh, and please make it Free and Crescendo again, not only 1 or the other.

  2. add more comprehensive jazz articulations!

    This would include the following:

-Trombone glissandos that function like the already implemented bend (used in context for guitars), but have a more recognizable squiggly line
-Bends (the rounded "U" symbol above a note that indicates to lip the pitch down
-Squiggly lines in general (used for falls)
-Curved lines (for implied scoops, doits, and shorter falls)

Of course, this need not be used only for jazz, but since these occur very commonly in jazz repertoire, I feel like this would be very useful!
Apologies if there is an ongoing thread for this, but that only means many people want…

  3. allow custom articulations

There are a few problems with playback on the articulation markings now, for example:
    1. staccato markings are much too short
    2. stacatissimo markings don't play
    3. marcato accents are too loud
    et cetera, et cetera.

A good solution for all these problems, and one that would be adjustable to different styles and moods of music would be a menu that allows custom articulation definitions for tenutos/legatos, marcatos, staccatos, etc. throughout a piece.

I would imagine two sliders: the first, "length," would be expressed as a percentage of marked value. It would be defaulted at ~85% for normal notes, 60%…

  4. Add brass mutes

It would be great if there were straight, harmon, cup, and bucket mutes, plungers, and maybe even growling.

  5. IOS and Android apps instead of accessing through the web

That way you can work on scores when not connected to wi-fi, and then maybe click a "sync" button or the device syncs automatically when connected to save it to the website

  6. Be more electronic synth friendly.

Hello! I have seen numerous requests for electronic synths as a possible instrument addition to Noteflight. At the moment, if we want to make and pan a custom sound, we have to pitch bend and slide with the \ and ~ key commands, which after a while becomes messy, annoying, and really laggy to the point where the song stops playing 5 measures before the actual end (but that isn't the main idea of this request).

An example of the messy sound mutation I have to do is in this score I created: https://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/389362371d35da96dc78c39530c7ee85549b4680 the bassline for this is an…

  7. microtones

I suggest that the feature of microtones be added to noteflight. One feature could be quartert tones (which can be used on standard music notation). Another addition may be the feature of Sonido 13 notation to allow even smaller microtones

  8. Add a Better Glissando

I really love being on Noteflight and I also love the limitless opportunities it provides.

Unfortunately, I have discovered slight problems with the software. In some compositions I have recently made, I have repeatedly tried to use the glissando option with terrible results. Instead of sliding up and down the fingerboard or extending a slide, it only moves up or down the chromatic scale.

Not only this problem, but I am also not able to shape them the way I would like them to. The glissando does not continue through different notes (for example if I were to place three…

  9. Let users filter what information is shown in their news by people they're following

I love the following feature, it makes Noteflight much more open. But sometimes it's a little annoying. All I want is some setting page where you could check off boxes for what kind of information you want shown about the people you are following and what they're doing. For example, I don't want it shown in my news every single time another user posts in a forum. So in the setting page I wouldn't check off the box that says "Receive notifications when a user I am following posts in a forum". Something like this would make the following feature…

  10. Additive (Irregular) Meters

I think that it would be a great idea to have the ability to use irregular meters, like 3+2+2/8 (a subdivision of 7/8). Maybe it would be cool if the meters were able to be customized so you can create pieces with obscure rhythmic patterns.

You can get this effect by using the overall time signature you need (such as 7/8) and then using beams to show the rhythmic groupings you want.

BUT it seems like you are talking specifically about how the time signature is displayed. For example, the one you mentioned would look like this:

    3+2+2
    8

This is not necessarily standard notation, but it is used sometimes. We would consider it but because you can already get the music to sound and read in the way you want, in the most standard way, it may not be a priority for us.

Please add more detail in the comments so we can understand what is more important to you: the way it’s displayed (we don’t already do this), or the ability to write the rhythms you want (we do already do this).

    Thanks!

  11. Make slurs stay

When I adjust a slur and then edit something else in the measure, the slur resets to its original place. For example, if a note is accented, I move the slur up so it doesn't overlap with the accented note. But, as soon as I change another thing in that measure, the slur goes back down. It would make scores and parts look much better if this were fixed. Thanks!

  12. Add instrument mixing throughout songs.

Basically, it's the mixer bar, but there's a way to make it change as the song plays. Maybe there's a pencil icon next to a setting (volume or channel) and it allows you to draw the setting on the music which changes up and down throughout notes and measure.

Let's use an example: You click the pencil icon on "volume" and draw a line going left to right in the music, and you're able to move the line up and down, the higher the line is, the higher the volume, the lower the setting, the lower the volume. This is…

  13. Be able to edit the title in strip and flow layout

It is a hassle to change the title and composer when started in strip or flow layout. What is currently required is to change to page mode (which usually takes a while and lags out) then select and type. It would be helpful for there to be a quicker way on strip or flow layout, for large pieces this is a hassle.

  14. Add different historical temperaments

It would be cool to be able to change the temperament to a pre-20th century tuning, to add a more authentic feel to some of the classical music composed on the platform.

Some temperaments that could be added might be:
    -Pythegorian
    -Just
    -Mean-tone
    -Well

  15. Allow Cross-Staff Beaming, Arpeggios, Slurs

This is an important feature of piano music, when a voice moves from one staff to the other. Maybe an option to insert a middle voice into a piano part?

  17. Allow Customized Text Fonts

At the moment, when writing the score name, or composer/lyricist name at the top of a score, you can only use one font, and one colour (black) and one size, and no italics, underlines, bolds allowed.

Also, when writing text within the score, e.g. lyrics, playing directions, etc. you can currently use only one font, and no bolds or underlines, or italics. With crescendo, you can change the colour, but Noteflight Crescendo only offers eight colours - not much. It would be much better if Noteflight could offer more fonts, text sizes, colours, and functions like italics, bold, and underline.…

  18. How about a second time only feature?

This way when I have to repeat and I want to add an instrument but only for the second time, I don't have to write it all out again.

  19. Improve drum notation

Noteflight needs to add a rimshot option for drum set and marching percussion and a rim knock and/or rim click for drum set. Also add support for double stroke rolls and buzz rolls, flams, diddles, drags and cheeses for marching perussion. There should be an option to mix and match percussion staves to a single stave ex. add cowbell to basic percussion. In addition, all drum set parts should be separate voices or at least have that option. It would also be great to have a variety of cymbal and drum sounds and types and to be able to balance…

  20. allow for the number of strings in tablature to be changed.

Some basses and bass music call for more than four strings. Some guitars and guitar music call for more than six strings. I wish Noteflight would allow you to add strings to your tabs. I'm sick of writing out tabs for a five string bass on guitar tabs because at the end, when I go print, I have an extra string that throws me off when I go to read the sheet music.
