I have tried saving scores to the site several times, as you're supposed to do. When I click the "Save" button, it will not save. When I do CMD+S it won't save. Even when I go into the menu and manually Save it will NOT SAVE. I don't know what's happening--I'm using Chrome on a Macbook so I'm not sure if the technology is out of date, but I have not encountered this problem. This is happening across multiple scores. And when I reload the page, it gives me the message "You didn't save your changes to the cloud" BECAUSE I COULDN'T SAVE. And then the Save button is still up, indicating that I need to save the score. Please help!!

We are sorry for the stress! We’ve heard a few reports of this on our Support line, and in all cases reloading the page or restarting the browser solved the issue. Please write to email@example.com with any further questions or concerns!
Can you tell me why Soundlcoud files won't load in Noteflight?1 vote
We tested this just now and it seems to be working for us… so, we need more info to be able to help. Please send full details of what’s happening – score URL, Soundcloud URL, browser and OS with version numbers, to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!
it would be helpful to know what the judges like or don't like about a submission. A composer might spend a lot of time composing a piece .... just to be dismissed in a matter of seconds. it wouldn't take much of an effort to leave a comment ... maybe 30-seconds as opposed to the countless hours a composer spends carefully crafting a piece ... just a thought ...1 vote
We love this idea! It’s not always feasible to offer advice to every composer, but we know that it’s valuable and we will be including this option in our contests whenever possible.
I would like to see options for brass and woodwind ensembles! Such as trumpet ensemble, or clarinet ensemble. This way I can hear what it would sound like with a fuller sound. I could also always use more percussion sounds!1 vote
You can add any combination of instruments you’d like! The Templates you see at the beginning when you create a score are just a convenience to get you going faster, but then you can customize them any way you like. More info here: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#action-toggleInstrumentsPanel
Maybe off to the side or in the instrument managing section, a button that allows you to mute the instrument, so that you can hear a song without an instrument- without deleting the notes. Or if you wanted to hear a group of instruments within the song, you can mute the other instruments to make sure that the chords don't clash and all that.3 votes
Hello, you can already do this! Just click the “Instruments” button at the top, and you can un-select any instrument to mute playback. See https://www.noteflight.com/guide#partsInstruments
Noteflight exports as MP3! But, some browsers such as Safari can not do this so the option is disabled. Try Chrome, Firefox, or Edge browsers.
Hello, you can go to the ‘measures’ palette in the dropdown menu inside the score, upper left. See: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#action-changeTimeSignature
Allow me to add a second voice part way through a score, without having that voice present for the entire song.
I would like Noteflight to allow me to add a second voice/instrument part way through a score, without having that voice showing throughout the entire score.1 vote
You can do this! Create both parts, then select all the empty measures of the second part, during the first part of the piece, and choose “Hide / Show Measures” in the measures palette. See: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#action-hideShowMeasure
On the New Score screen, you can select simply "Treble Clef" or "Bass Clef" as an instrument, but once the score is created, you must select an instrument. It is much easier for me to just get the notes on the page and assign the instrument later instead of having to sort through the menu to find something.3 votes
I want to make sure I understand because I think we already offer this option? When you choose “Treble Clef” or Bass Clef, the score opens and you can add notes to a blank staff. You can change the instrument later but you don’t have to.
Please write to email@example.com with full details including:
- browser you’re using
- operating system
– user name
– score URL if possible

and we will investigate.
I need to just write a soprano line...that's it....can I do that? I don't want an entire grand staff.1 vote
Easy! Just double click inside the staff you don’t want, to select it, then Delete.
make possible to disable sound in activity templates i.e. disable cheating when writing notation from audio.1 vote
You can deselect the audio in the mixer, though the student could always add it back. The other option is to audio record the dictation. See: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#audioRecording
Whenever I finish a score, it's a struggle to set the score settings to where no part has an extra page with just one or a few lines. The score settings should be customizable for each individual part.0 votes
This is already possible! See: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#indpendentBreaks
Also see the ability to make the Note size different for parts in the score > settings palette.
noteflight has been working great for a few months but this just started a few days ago. This may have something to do with Explorer but when I select a menu by moving the mouse to the left the menu does not close when I move the mouse back to the right. I have to close it by clicking on the menu and then making sure I move the mouse horizontally to the right so I don't activate any other menus.1 vote
Hello, Internet Explorer no longer supports Noteflight. Please switch to Edge, Chrome, or Firefox and let us know if the problem continues!
Please add all of these instruments A.S.A.P.‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️: (1.) Bass Clarinet, (2.) French Horn, (3.) Tuba, & (4.) Timpani3 votes
These are available in our Premium subscription! https://www.noteflight.com/plans
Me gustó una partitura ajena, pero me gustaría añadir cosas extras.1 vote
Si comparten la partitura con usted con el permiso de edición, puede hacerlo. Pueden seguir estas instrucciones: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#shareIndividuals
For the baritone, you can create a new instrument from an existing one that is similar (for example, create a trombone if you need bass trombone). Before closing the “create instrument” dialog box, change the “key” to the transposition you need, or the octave (e.g. for double bass). Also change the short and long names. The instrument will then look and behave like the instrument you need. You can also change the part names anytime by double-clicking on them in the left margin and re-typing any text you want.
For percussion divisi, would our multiple voices option work? https://www.noteflight.com/guide#voicePalette. If not, could you tell us more about what you mean?
I love the ability to share arrangements through NoteFlight with my friends, but I don't really see the point if my friends can't comment on specific measures with feedback. I'm in an a cappella group with many arrangers, and we share drafts before bringing to the group. Would be great to collaborate on comments (like sticky notes) on certain measures, rather than me having to comment with the measure number on the right.3 votes
We do offer the annotation tool – see https://www.noteflight.com/guide#action-annotation
Let us know if that doesn’t offer the function you need!
add a tempo so I could write a ritard and then put "a tempo" at the top of the score to return to the original tempo. Now it stays at the slow, post-ritard tempo which is obviously not what I'm going for in my piece.1 vote
This should be working! use a “Performance text” item at the point you want the tempo to return to full speed, and type the letters:
If it’s not working, please write to email@example.com.
