    • IOS/ANDRIOD app for tablets.

Ive been using noteflight since i was a teenager so it's all I've ever used. Now that I'm 18 it seems that noteflight isn't able to keep up with me anymore. It seems most practical to have a dedicated app for tablets since paper is diminishing. Please noteflight, we would like a app where we can compose offline and be able to take our compositions anywhere.

Thanks for your message and it’s so great to hear you’ve been using Noteflight for so long! I want to make sure you know you can already use Noteflight on any device including tablets and phones: just open the browser on the device and navigate to our site. It’s not an app, as such, but it ends up functioning a lot like one. What do you think?

      • How do I use the Messages on Noteflight?

I saw the messages thing and thought I could use it, but there is no button for me to send a message or write one. Please help!

        • Printing Protections

Noteflight allows any user to print any other users score or individual parts without notification to the composer. This is allowed via terms of service, but is not secure because any one an print and play your music without any notification or permission. A second point to this being un useful is that when a composer does block the "export" function, which includes exporting a pdf or individual parts, any one can still print out the pdf, making this confusing to users. Notelfight should revise their terms of service to allow a composer the right to allow their scores to…

          • Awful Program Completely

This is the worst music notation software I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. I hope whoever made this feels bad. It's quick and dirty, and I only used it cause I was desperate. The interface is unique, but the most frustrating to use program conceivable.

Genuine criticism time, I asked it to transpose down a minor third, and it transposed an augmented second. I understand they are enharmonically equivalent, and the augmented second was in a more readable key, but they are not the same and shouldn't be treated the same.

              Hi Bob,

We are really distressed to hear this and we want to understand better what you are finding so frustrating!

We want to make sure to capture the transposing issue you mentioned so we can file a software bug right away to get it fixed. We pride ourselves on Noteflight being a smooth and professional notation software, and because we release updates and improvements often, some bugs do creep in unfortunately.

Would you be willing to email us at support@noteflight.com with the link to your score where this problem occurred, and/or your user name and the title?

We want to make this right!

Thank you for contacting us and for sharing your concerns – we are a small dedicated team working every day to make Noteflight the best it can be. Honest feedback isn’t easy to hear, but it means a huge amount to us and is truly appreciated.

            • Fix items in jazz font

Jazz Font C minor chord symbol is problematic-- the minor dash gets swallowed up by the C letter, making it look like a G. You can work around by spelling Cmin7, but that is clunkier and takes up more space.

              • allow slash notes to be on other notes other than B (middle of staff)

I'd like to have a floating slash note above the staff, but when I change the note head to a slash, it anchors it to the center line in the staff (B, treble clef) and does not allow you to move it. This makes it hard to notate rhythms above the staff using slashes.

                • I would like to export to SVG

Export to SVG would allow me to customize my score in Adobe Illustrator and even use the score as a resolution independent graphic in web pages I create to represent my work.

                  • Insert beams across barlines!

I'd really like to be able to beam together notes on either side of a barline. Sometimes the feel of the meter changes, but the meter itself doesn't. Rather than creating odd time signatures on odd measures to show proper note grouping, it would be easier to beam across measures.

                    Thank you for the consideration!

                    • Fix Rehersal Letters

I write marching percussion and wind scores, and I use the "rehearsal letter" to indicate marks in my music that's important to the score. And in my current show I'm writing, the rehearsal letter jumps from the letter 'N' and starts back over to 'B'. Can you please fix this vote please and thank you! :)

                        • Put back measure clicking for audio sync

The old editor used to allow you to click which measure in the score would play with the synced audio. Now you can only click the button at the bottom of the screen, or the letter 'm'. This seems to eliminate the ability to enter 'repeats' and have the musical cursor return back to a certain point in the score. Please put back the ability to use your cursor to click where in the score the music should be attached to. This allows for more flexibility - Dal Segno, Codas, Repeats etc.

                          • Poco Rit.

A poco. rit. would be a great addition to note flight. Many of my pieces I play have rit. and a few measures later, there's a poco rit.

I tried to swing a piece that was in cut time to find that it didn't work! Would it be possible to swing these "quarter" notes, since they act as eighth notes when played?

                              • Add different historical temperaments

It would be cool to be able to change the temperament to a pre-20th century tuning, to add a more authentic feel to some of the classical music composed on the platform.

Some temperaments that could be added might be:
                                -Pythegorian
                                -Just

                                • automatically change metronome markings for the entire piece

When I click on the metronome marking and change the number or note value, it then puts the old mm in the next measure. It should automatically make it apply to the entire piece, then if I need the old one back, I can go to that measure and do it. I know that if I select the entire piece it will change for everything, but that is not my first thought when I go to change the metronome, so I have to do it 2-3 times every time.

Interesting point. This can be confusing sometimes, I know, though it makes sense in one way because when you change it, it changes the selected measure. As a solution for now, you can delete the incorrect “correction” time signature.

                                      • Orchestral Percussion!

When writing for orchestra, it's annoying to not have any percussion in playback to listen to. The ordinary "percussion" is not at all orchestral; it's just set remastered. Add things like triangle, cymbals, a real bass drum (not just a kick drum), a tam-tam even. It would mean a lot to people who compose for orchestra like me.

                                        • Can We Please Have a "Dark Theme" Version of the Site?

For whatever reason, when I'm composing the overall brightness of the site can lead to headaches or unnecessary eye strain. I noticed youtube recently added a "dark mode" that makes all of the page background stuff and such darker (black background with white text) but leaves the actually content unchanged. I would love it if we could have a similar feature on noteflight.
