I wanted the begging line to have three measures, but it had FIVE! I also want an intro note.3 votes
You can do this! Just click in the third measure and type Return/Enter – that moves the next measure to the next line.
i create a new score and nothing comes up. Keep in mind this might not be a bug because I'm just a beginner but if it is please fix it I have an assessment to do on this site4 votes
Hello! If you are using Internet Explorer, unfortunately that browser is no longer maintained by Microsoft and you will need to switch to Edge. Chrome and Firefox also work well. If you are already on one of those browsers, as a first step, restart the browser and make sure it’s updated to the latest version.
If no luck, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with full details. Thanks!
When you create a score, it automatically has a one track piano staff. Since a lot of people use this for choral scores, I was thinking there could be an option to automatically start off with SATB (or SSA, SSAA, SAB, etc.) choir with the tracks already there so you wouldn't have to continuously individually add each track in every single time you'd want to create a new choral score. Just a thought!8 votes
Luckily, we have this option already! With a Noteflight Premium subscription you get a whole list of templates to start from, including choral options. More info here: https://www.noteflight.com/premium
We have tuba and french horn already in our premium instruments! And to make a bagpipe, create an oboe and just change the name by clicking on it in the left margin. That should do it! More info about Premium here: https://www.noteflight.com/premium
i was creating a song and i wanted an organ for my piece but i wasn't there! i was hoping you could get a church organ.3 votes
We have both of these in the Premium subscription! Try it for free here: https://www.noteflight.com/premium-trial
I am using Noteflight to notate simple sight-reading exercises for my students, and I have to select "trumpet" or "flute" or whatever else to have a single treble or bass clef line. The default when I create a new score is always treble and bass clef piano, so I have to go through and delete the piano line, and add an "instrument" that I'm not using.
This seems like a really easy thing to fix, and a huge oversight for singers. Would love to use this in my classroom next school year, but not unless this is fixed.1 vote
We love this idea… so much that we have already done it! For Premium users, you start from a list of score templates that includes basic treble staff, or choral parts, or other options.
Try it out for a free month! https://www.noteflight.com/premium-trial
There is an error with the dynamics. It must be a bug because I checked all settings and couldn’t find any settings that say no dynamic contrasts. Previous scores that I have with dynamics markings won’t function on the playback. Anybody else?1 vote
Please send the score link/URL to email@example.com and let us know what browser you’re using, and we will take a look right away! Also please let us know when you first noticed this happening. Thank you!
I made a score, then I made a group. But I don't know how to add that score to that group.1 vote
Inside the score, open the Connect panel (button top right). Under sharing click Change, and you’ll see the option to share with the Group. Then go go the Group and click Scores on the left.
I tried searching for D. C al Fine, but it didn't pop up. Please help!1 vote
For support questions it’s usually faster to write us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can do this by adding a Performance Text item then type in the text you need. So select a measure and type T, then “D. C al Fine”.
I have having to use a million ties when I am using 16th notes, so can I make is so that there can be a longer note on the bottom/top than on the opposite?1 vote
You can do this! Create the 16ths, then select the measure and type L to create a lower voice. This gives you a new whole rest: add new notes on that rest. You can also type U to add an upper voice.
You don’t! Sharing with individuals and groups is a Premium feature, but sharing with all site members is also for Free members! It’s the top option in the Sharing options under Connect. Let us know if you don’t see it!
I do not have a premium account. When I listen to others' scores I can't hear their premium instruments. Is that how it's supposed to work? If it is, can that be changed?1 vote
Could you please write to email@example.com and include the specific user names and score URLs involved?
We will get this figured out.
Allow me to control the starting of a new grand staff. I want to have only 4 or 5 measures per staff line.
I want to control when a new staff line is formed . I want to have only 4 or 5 measures per grand staff line when I choose the new score option. Now the basic noteflight squeezes too many measures on a line before it starts a new line. Maybe the ability to control the new line is there, but I just don't know how to use it.1 vote
You can fully control this by selecting any measure that you want to be the last one in a line, and typing Return/Enter.
Let us know if that works!
I love noteflight so much but would it be possible to create the ability for specific notes in a chord to have different values than the other notes, if that makes sense?1 vote
You can do this using our Voices palette: create an additional upper or lower voice with a different rhythm. Please see: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#voicePalette
it doesn't even have to be just oboe because there are other instruments like bassoon, piccolo, and french horn1 vote
Happy to help! The filtering is based on context. If you first click Search and search for oboe, you’ll then see the oboe in the list. Let us know if that helps!
I noticed a new feature, the 'Repeat Ending Final' which isn't clear about the difference between that and 'Repeat Ending,' and it isn't discussed in the user guide.1 vote
Hello, there are two types of repeat ending lines: the “regular” closed one with the downward line at the end, and the “final” one with the line open at the end. This was our attempt to account for cases with more than two endings: for example endings 1.2.3. can go under a regular repeat, then ending 4. would go under the “final” ending.
Does that make sense? Please let us know!
The half dimished symbol (ø) translates to a "1" in jazz font, and the diminshed symbol (o) translates to a big fat black line. Please fix this.1 vote
Yes this is a known bug we are working on. I’m going to put “Completed” even though it’s not done yet… but it’s in our working process already. Thank you! For now unfortunately you can just use the standard font for this.
I could not wrote a triplet in 8/8 measure, organized in 3+3+2 in the 2 quavers place (2)
Please check it out1 vote
So you need:
with the beams like:
is that correct?
If so, you do not need triplets, just regular quavers. You can connect and disconnect the beams using shift-[ or shift-]
Or use the menu items in the ‘rhythm’ palette. See here: https://www.noteflight.com/guide#adjustBeams
Let us know if that works!
Could you tell us more about this? We think our current key signature and instrument key options should do the trick but we want to understand better what you need. Thanks!
I play Baritone and for a band project I had to come up with a song. I thought no big deal they will have a baritone instrument but, no you don't so I had to listen to it in piano and it sounds good but I am not sure how it will sound with a baritone.3 votes
With Premium you can create a Baritone out of a tuba! Check it out here: https://notes.noteflight.com/composing-for-any-instrument/
