I recently Imported a MIDI of the song Exodus by Evanescence, and the vocal line, having been played on a flute, was separate from the piano, but the piano part was put into one staff, and I had to separate it myself. I suggest that when we import MIDIs, and the piano accompaniment is on one track, that it be split into two staffs based on which note would more reasonably be on which staff.
