I wish Noteflight would...

The thing with all the input items

We all know of the thing that floats around when you edit the sheet music. It's the thing that has the quarter notes, the eight notes and of course dynamics and the tablature and everything else. I can't stand the fact that it moves around. It gets in my way when I'm trying to edit the sheet music. Wouldn't it be great if it stays like on the side of the editor? Like, maybe in the upper right hand corner or upper left hand corner? Just so it stays out of our way. Won't it be much easier?

I agree that it moves too much. Additionally, It's never in the same place twice. I can never count on it to be where I need it and I spend too much time looking for it.

Yes, if the floating thing stayed on the side of the screen (top, bottom, side - anywhere excpet the middle) then Noteflight would seem better "polished", thus allowing it to compete with other software out there that cost so much (more) money, thus making it preferred over the others so more people will use it.
        That's what I think...

Oh, god, that floating thing is the bane of my existence! I hate it! It is especially bad when I am notating on my netbook, which has a smaller screen. It is always, always, always right on top of the exact measure that I am currently editing, so that I can't see it! I would even be happy if it still floated, but at least stayed the heck away from the measure that I'm trying to work on.

The best would be if I could toggle it to turn on and off (View Floating Thing on/off).

I actually like the floating UI, but I think an option to have it stationary would be nice.

I'm sure the people at Microsoft thought Clippy was a great idea too, but at least he never blocked the cursor.

I keep on doing this: say I'm working on a measure on the right side of the screen (in page view), and so I have the box on the left. Then I work on the next measure, on the left side of the screen, and suddenly the box moves beyond the left screen edge. I have to go back to the right side of the screen, move the box, then back to the left side of the screen. I can understand why people would THINK this would be useful, but it's ridiculous. Just let it move when we drag it, and when we scroll.

The randomly-floating function window is extremely annoying. It would be great to be able to dock it somewhere on the screen.

It would be nice if we could have docking AND shortcuts for ALL of the functions.

The randomly moving tool palettes makes using the application more time consuming. The user cannot predict where it will appear. Often, it lands on top of work in progress, that is, it moves right in the way. When some sort of repetitive action is undertaken, a tool palette randomly changing position leads to the user having to spend time locating the desired function all over again each time a different note or chord is selected. The option for the user to select a location and lock the tool palettes in place would be useful.

If we could maybe still move it around the screen, but it would then only follow as we scroll, that would be great

It would be nice if maby instead we could "lock" its position on the screen to where it is handy, but out of the area we are working on.
